Time Slippage on Linux box

Hi There,

We have a linux box that "looses" time. We sync it with a local NTP server; however after a weeks if you do a 'date' or 'hwclock' command, then there will be a few minutes difference between the linux box and the NTP server.

I know this is a common problem with virtual linux boxes but this is a phyiscal machine.

can anyone help me out there?
