It seems that you've installed the httpd built rom the source and overwritten your /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
This is why it does not load the extra configuration files anymore. Please add this line just after the module load commands so that :
LoadModule cgi_module modules/mod_cgi.so (these lines are just intended to
LoadModule version_module modules/mod_version.so be guidelines actual names
. could be different)
.
.
Include conf.d/*.conf
and then restart your httpd daemon.
BTW why did you need the latest version? If this is not absoluttely required I'll suggest you to revert back to the factory default.
Cheers,
K.
oh though I've posted it seems that it did not get posted correctly. Yeah given that you have a valid contract with RedHAT you will be able to get the latest updates available when the product reached the End of Life cycle. This means that even if you reinstall the product from the CD you can update it to the latest available version when the support has ended. There are no further updates prepared once the product has reached the EOL.
Cheers,
K.
EOL = Enf Of Life. It is a common term throughout the industry.
But they only support Source Codes since AS 2.1 Support is over. Here's the explanation from RedHAT:

Hi,
RedHAT Linux AS is an obsolete product. The 7 year life cycle has been ended as of May 2009. So it is only available from RedHAT as source RPMS. This is practically useless if you can't compile the full distro from the scratch. I'll suggest you to download and use the current version of RedHAT EL 5.4 and use the Jboss over it instead. I'm sure it will be supported. The only problem is you might not be able to get technical support from the VMWare if you need to open an issue ticket with them. I don't know if you've ever opened a support request ticket to VMWare and if you have a valid support contract with VMWare.
Cheers,
K
