usb not mounted need to transfer files.

i am in hospital wih an old laptop, no hard drive and 2 usb pen drives.
i have developed a whole php and mysql database enabled website. only problem is i cannot transfer the files to my FAT32 usb pen drive as its not mounting

total newbie on linux, but i can see the usb files in:  /mnt/sda1/
only problem is its  not appearing as a mounted system device, nor will it allow me to copy files onto the drive.

if i need to format this usb pen i will.

dont worry.
i used the other usb and it mounted.
then went to /mnt/sdb/
the files were there

opened terminal and typed:   rmdir /mnt/sdb1
removed the usb pen

inserted the new usb drive
it then did not auto detect so from terminal i typed:  mount -t /mnt/sdb1 /mnt/usb
this mounted theusb and i was able to save my files

im pleased with myself now lol
im learning linux the trial and error way lol

Thats good you found a solution. A litle trick to finding out which device your pen drive is, simply issue

fdisk -l

as root you will see all the partitions and disk drives. When you spot the FAT filesystem you can mount it
simply by doing

mount /dev/sdb /path/to/mount/point
