hello,
assuming you mean sles10 (and not the severly autdated non supported opensuse 10)
the easy less linux savvy way:
start yast2
select network services in the left pane
select network services in the right pane
enable them
then scroll down untill you see ftp under service
toggle status for either pure-ftpd or vsftpd (both is kinda silly since you need only 1 ftp deamon)
klik finish
and you got an ftp server
make sure your firewall does allow ftp
pick your ftp server (make sure you do not select the client)
