Seeing a USB key through VMWare

Asked by venkateshwarr in Ubuntu, VMware

Tags: vmware, usb, key

I am running VMWare Server on a UBUNTU Gibbon box and have XP as the virtual machine.  I want to be able to see the USB key I plug into the UBUNTU box in the virtual machine.  It just pops up in the UBUNTU OS.
In VM I've gone to VM --> Removable Devices --> USB Devices and it says empty.
I've looked online to edit the vitual machine .vmx file and add "usb.generic.skipSetConfig = TRUE" but that didn't do anything either.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
