Very old computer, neading linux

I have a computer like:
128 Mb memory
1 GHz processor

Since it is a museum computer and my wife is trying to offer it to someone (the incredible thing is that she likes this person), I was considering to set a Linux on it. I love Ubuntu but seems to be impossible to install it from the Live CD so I'm getting a problem.

So I need a computer with a browser and Open Office (even slow would be super). Since this computer isn't to be in my house, It neads to be simple to maintain it actualized. This is for a person that has afraid of computers.

So the question is or are:

How do I install Ubuntu in this PC?
If it isn't really a good idea, what shall I install on it?
