Hi
I recently built a dual celeron server with 500GB HDD / 2GB Ram running Ubuntu/XAMPP/Coldfusion8 on my home network that I am using as a testing server for a variety of PHP, ColdFusion and Flex development projects that I'm working on.
I've been reading a lot about virtualization (I have just subscribed to a VPS hosting plan) and I'm intrigued by the possibilities. Now I would like to attempt to "virtualize" my home testing server so that I can install and run different operating systems side by side. However I do not want to lose my existing Ubuntu system.
From what I can gather there are three main choices - Vmware, Virtuozzo and Xen. I've been trying to find information about them and to glean which is the best one to use, especially for someone who is relatively new to server administration. However I don't seem to be able to find much understandable information.
Please can someone tell me the differences between these systems and which, if any I should attempt to use.
thanks in advance
