How do setup squid to mask ips?

Hello,
I am trying to setup a squid proxy on a remote ubuntu server. I want to connect to it from my cable modem, and have it mask my ip for browsing the web, ssl, etc. How do I do this? I have squid setup, accepting requests from my browser, and have it setup as "transparent" according to the guide I found online. But when I go to a site like whatismyip.com It still shows my ip address.
