On the Vista side, I have been printing successfully for months to the Canon using Canon's 64-bit driver. Ubuntu can't find it when I try to add a new printer. Don't know if it matters but I have installed a 32-bit version of Ubuntu 9.04, not 64-bit. Also, you can create new USB 'filters' in Sun's VirtualBox, but I have not done so. Not sure how to tell if Ubuntu can see the Vista box's USB ports, including the Canon USB printer. I work in IT but this is a bit complex for me. I'm not sure if I have a VirtualBox issue, an Ubuntu issue, a driver issue, or a 32-bit vs 64 bit issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, I successfully installed these two:
cndrvcups-common_1.90-1_i3
cndrvcups-ufr2-uk_1.90-1_i
Then in Ubunto 9.04 I do this:
System > Administration > Printing > New > Printer > Select Device
Now if I choose 'other', it asks for Device URI, and I am nor sure what to enter.
If instead I choose Network Printer > LDP/LDR Host or Printer > it will ask for HOST. I put in DEB-HP (computer name for Vista host computer). > Forward button > Select Printer from Database > Canon > Forward button > MF4100 UFRII LT Ver 1.9 > Forward button > selected the recommended driver > Forward button > gave it a human readable location name > Apply.
Now if I go System > Administration > Printing, the Printer Configuration Dialog box shows a Canon-MF4100-UFRII-LT, but I can't print a test page - the Print Test Page button is grayed out.
Also, if I am running the virtual Ubuntu guest and in the VirtualBox menu click Devices > USB Devices > Canon Inc. MF4100 [0100], I will always crash with Vista's Blue Screen Of Death.
Same BSOD if the Ubuntu guest is not yet launched, and in VirtualBox settings, I try to add a new USB Device filter and point to the Canon on the Vista box's USB port.
Ok. I deleted the previous printer. Now I'll try again using piezza's last advice.
System > Administration > Printing > New > Other > smb://DEB-HP/Canon MF4150 > Choose Driver > Select Printer from a Database > Canon > MF4100 UFRII LT Ver 1.9 > Would you like a test page? > yes
No test page prints. Can you think of anything else that I might be doing wrong?
The USB Bluescreen problem is strange and i think it is a fault in VirtualBox. There i can't help.
Printing over a Windows share is a bit tricky. Maybe there is a permission problem that prevents Linux connecting to the share. Try a URI like this: smb://username:password@se
For testing if you have access to the share you can use the shell and try to access it with smbclient. Perhaps this helps a bit: http://en.opensuse.org/

Seems like the printer isn't supported in CUPS, yet.

Try installing the driver from the canon site:
