Rendevous and LPD printing fails with OS_10.3

printing to a Kyocera TaskAlfa MFP color printer/copier. Using Kyoceras OS_10.3 driver.
attempting to print via Rendevous or LPD/LPD printing. The Job queue progress bar just spins and reflects messsage "sending Control file...##%"
Job never prints. Never gets to the printer. Sending via Appletalk works.
