Browse All TopicsCould someone please tell me how to change main disk,
without having to reinstall Linux, spending time configuring various software packages.
My current plan:
- on my current main disk do
cd /
tar -c * --exclude=/proc --exclude=/disk2 --exclude=/lost+found > /disk2/x.tar
- after installing new disk, RedHat, basic packages:
cd /
... remove all directories on new disk except /bin, /proc
tar -xvf /disk2/x.tar
- reboot, hope everything works
Any comments on this, is there better way to do it,
will tar, as used, restore previous file permissions, owner ?
