I have a network of about 30 users which we run exchange 5.5 on a windows 2000 server. Anyway, middle of last week we started getting hit as an open relay and then this new reverse ndr attack where the spammer sends it to a fake address with the senders address being the real destination which then kicks back the email from the server as undeliverable mail.
Anyway, I have received 40,000 email the last two days, we have been blacklisted, so we can't send email out, and Microsoft has no answers for exchange 5.5, 2000, or 2003 to stop them.
I have a linux box that I am setting up on a trial basis to see if it will handle our needs for some other issues.
Questions:
Does linux have something to prevent reverse NDR attacks?
Can I implement this where my users of Outlook as an email client really will not have to change how they get their email?
Sorry don't have many points yet!
thanks in advance.
