Please note: I have no knowledge dealing with Linux or Unix.
I downloaded Debian from the following site (test) :
http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/daily/i386/20050531/and installed 'debian-testing-i386-netin
st.iso'.
I then downloaded the following file:
j2eesdk-1_4_01_2005Q1-linu
x.bin (115.94 MB)
from :
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.htmlThe file was copied into a sub-directory /installations created under root. When I try to install this giving it as " ./j2eesdk-1_4_01_2005Q1-li
nux.bin " the following error message appears:
"Error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file. No such file or directory"
I have been reading a lot and doing a lot of search on google for the past 2 days. But I am not able to get a proper answer or direction on how this could be sorted out. Every document is either dealing with RedHat or Fedora. I am using debian as I have been instructed by my manager.
I tried (excuse me if it was stupid)
apt-get install libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
but it said Couldn't find package libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
I was reading about rpm but couldn't understand it either.
Another stupidity: When I give the command 'rpm' it comes with the message : command not found
I can definitely follow instructions. I would like to have a step by step instruction on how I can get the job done. Once again please note I have no knowledge dealing with Linux or Unix.
Thank you.
