Optimizing and Securing Linux

Hi List

I have tried so many times to ask this question here but never actually got myself on a path to solve. My objective is to optimize and secure redhat linux for some custom application and i need some help for the same.

I am a VoIP developer and like to put my VoIP server on a custom linux. I started from the scratch, from compiling kernel to putting it on single floppy. What i require now is minimize it to somewhere around 50MB with very few options like Network support, SSH, Web Server and glib support and like to have the system on hard-disk.

Kindly give me some direction to achieve it.
