Browse All TopicsOn Redhat, I tried this simple program:
int main(){return 0;}
I used gcc to compile it into a.out, then ran this command:
$ objdump -x a.out
The beginning several lines look like this:
a.out: file format elf32-i386
a.out
architecture: i386, flags 0x00000112:
EXEC_P, HAS_SYMS, D_PAGED
start address 0x080482f0
I found this in the symbol table:
080482f0 g .text 00000000 _start
so the start address 0x080482f0 points to the routine _start.
My question is just: why start address is always 0x080482f0
for all program I tried? Why this value, why not any other value?
I know this address is virtual memory address.
Thanks,
