Linux Login

hi,

my Linux machine has a CENTOS 4 OS and is working fine. Thing is that I had move the machine physically from one desk to another and so had to shut it down. But on trying to login into the console nothing happens.. The screen blinks a couple of times and the login screen reappears !!

I can telnet into the machine from another machine and perfomed a Halt. BUt on booting again, I still cannot login to the machine. I have the root password as well as 3 other user passwords but none of them gains me entry.. All the services seem to be up and running and as I indicate, I can telnet fine into the machine!

How do I login directly from the console !!?
