redhat 9 slow when do route

I have linux redhat server webserve an application. users compliant that the response is very slow.  when I try to see the route table by typing route it takes 30 secodn to display the route table.  I know this should be very fast. I check my hosts file and it have the following

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomian.localhost
10.7.1.2   sitedomiannamne
10.7.1.3   databaseserver

hwre can I troubleshoot this and fix it.
