Debian Linux (Etch) - Can 32bit x86 see more than 4GB RAM?  How about 64-bit (AMD64)?

We're currently running the x86 32-bit version of Debian (Etch) and have 4GB RAM installed.  We're thinking of adding more RAM since it will soon run more VMWARE machines.

1) Can the 32-bit OS address more than 4GB?

2) If not, will the 64-bit (AMD64) OS address more than 4GB (I would assume so)?

3) Will VMWARE run ok in 64-bit Linux and see more than 4GB of memory?

Or, is this simply a 32-bit processor limitation and not OS, Kernel, etc?
