ALSA and AOSS

Next step in migrating from windows. I am currently working only on linux, but still I am sticked up to windows when comes to games. Maybe somebody here can help?

I have arch linux and kde. I am using three sound devices: c-media usb, c-media motherboard integrated and sb-live!. I have headphones connect to usb and 5.1 connected to sblive!.

First of all, the teamspeak application generates some crappy sounds, quality gets worse as the sound intensiveness grows. So, if somebody is talking, I sometimes even can't understand what is he saying. I think that the problem is with oss, as I am using aoss. At the same time I can listen without any problems to amarok using dmix plug.

Okey, the second thing is, I think, the same as first one. The enemy-territory game, the only one I currently play (from time to time), plays much more crappy voice, it's on the level I can't even guess what it is playing. Again, using aoss (the application itself runs oss). (ET is a free game and has linux binaries available).

Also, I am wondering whether it is possible to use both sound cards at the same time?

Hopes that 500 points is enough! :)Start Free Trial
