Browse All TopicsHello, my RHES4 linux server is reporting 16 CPUs but there are physically only 4 CPUs. The CPUs are INTEL Xeon dual core 3.5Ghz. Is this to be expected because each core is a Xeon? This is my first server (IBM x3850) that I am running 3.5 dula cores on... I have some other servers with 3.0Ghz dual core Xeons, but they only report twice the physical count (not 4x). Here is waht the bios sees for the 4 physical processors:
Intel machine check architecture supported.
Intel machine check reporting enabled on CPU#0.
CPU0: Intel P4/Xeon Extended MCE MSRs (24) available
CPU0: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.50GHz stepping 08
..repeats this for other CPUs all the way up to 15:
Intel machine check architecture supported.
Intel machine check reporting enabled on CPU#15.
CPU15: Intel P4/Xeon Extended MCE MSRs (24) available
CPU15: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.50GHz stepping 08
