The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Make sure you have the correct repositories entered in the yum.conf file. Follow the instructions on these sites:

http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities
http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories

01.13.2008 at 02:15AM PST, ID: 20647219
i have the default repositories of centOS 5.1, it should be there.

i have to install the "priorities" and then make a change in the yum.conf and install the rpmforge repositories but i cant event install the priorities so i cant go on.

I don't think it is included in the default section, but rather in the extras or addons, so those should also be present. The message you get is that the package isn't found and that means that it isn't included in the repositories you have enabled.

01.13.2008 at 03:39AM PST, ID: 20647335
the extras are also enabled here is the yum.conf:

[main]
cachedir=/var/cache/yum
debuglevel=2
logfile=/var/log/yum.log
pkgpolicy=newest

[base]
name=CentOS-2 base
baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos-2/i386/CentOS/

[updates]
name=CentOS-2 updates
baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos-2/updates/

[extras]
name=CentOS-2 extras
baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos-2/extras/

plugins=1

and here is the command i run to install priorities and the error i recieve:

[root@localhost etc]# yum install yum-priorities
Gathering package information from servers
Getting headers from: CentOS-2 base
Getting headers from: CentOS-2 extras
Getting headers from: CentOS-2 updates

The URL's in your file point to Centos 2 repositories, not Centos 5.1...

Change the entries "/centos-2/" to "centos-5".
