Installing FireFox 2 on RedHat 8

Asked by gram77 in Linux, Unix Operating Systems

I have downloaded FireFox 2.

I do:
[root@localhost firefox]# ls -l | grep firefox
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         5286 Apr  5 03:32 firefox
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root     10576676 Apr  5 03:32 firefox-bin
[root@localhost firefox]# ./firefox

I get firefox 2.0 explorer opened, with tabbed browsing.

However, this setting is not permanent.

If I click on FireFox icon on my task bar again Firefox 1.2 opens.

How do I make sure that whenever I click on FireFox icon, the right version of FireFox is invoked.Start Free Trial
