How To: Backtrack 3 boot from sdcard +emacs

Is there any way to set up my eepc to:
*boot from 4G sdcard
*allow persistent changes
*add emacs
*have compiz enabled

If there is a method to do so please elaborate on the necessary steps. I haven't found posts that address all of these needs.
