Getting started with Linux

I have installed Linux (from the single CD method which I downloaded off the Net) and I have configured static IP, etc with the result that I can ping outside URL's. My first success!!

But I don't know how to do anything else. I'm thoroughly confused as to how to download and install packages. My ultimate goal is to configure this box as a Linux file server, with the intention of possibly replacing the file servers in our remote offices. Start Free Trial
