Mod-Rewrite Help... ~books

I am trying to move a site to a new server, and the have hard coded a ton of references to the following folder '/~books/' and I am trying to put together a mod_rewrite rule so I can just move all the files to a folder named 'books' since I don't have access to the ~books home directory.
