Is 'read only' fsck safe on mounted fs?
Is 'read only' fsck safe on mounted ext3 filesystem?
I would like to not during the forced fsck after maximum mount count. The unexpected extra time to boot up is not tolerable on large servers.
For an alternative I would like to do a read only (e2fsck -fn) fsck during light usage hours and alert if there is an error detected, and go from there.
