Can't copy BackTrack 3 iso file due to space limitations.

I'm in process of creating a bootable BackTrack 3 USB drive. From this link...

This time I an unable to copy the iso file to the root folder marked as '/' because it has only
599 MB available of free space and the Backtrack 3 iso file is 783 MB.

Question:

Is there a way to create more space so I can copy the iso file?

What modifications can I make so I can make space for the iso file (783 MB)?
