Testdisk sees two disks like so:
Disk /dev/sdc - 1073 GB / 1000 GiB - DGC RAID 5
Disk /dev/mapper/emc_vg-p2_lv - 1073 GB / 999 GiB
Disk sdc is the physical disk that the LVM emc_vg-p2_lv was built on. So there is actually just one disk involved here.
When things were running well the filesystem /data was mounted like so:
/dev/mapper/emc_vg-p2_lv on /data type ext3 (rw)
And fdisk showed that /dev/sdc had no partition info.
Where things went wrong is mistakenly a new partition was made on sdc via fdisk called sdc1 and then a filesystem created on it using: mke2fs -j /dev/sdc1
And now looking at the /data filesystem shows that nothing is there.
So has anyone been down this road before? Is there any chance of recovering the LVM with /data on it?
I've tried Testdisk but no luck so far. Any other tools out there to recover LVM's?
