Breaking and fixing in Vmware
hi guys,
Are there any tutorials out there that teach you how to break something in Vmware and then learn to fix it again?
This is probably the fastest route to learning, yet I haven't come across any tutorials in trainsignal or anywhere else.
Are there labs or anything you've come across which teaches you how to deliberately break a particular function or instance in Vmware and hence duplicate an error which you might come across in a live production environment, and then fix it?

Your help is much appreciated. I just know that if you can troubleshoot issues, alongside being able to set up an environment, it adds to your capabilities.
Why have to wait for 2yrs til an issue arises and be all 'sorry, never done this before' when the issue could be recreated in a controlled environment and you have now learned that much more quickly to resolve it?!

There are few thousand things that can break in a virtual environment.
It is fairly easy to set up a test environment. I suggest you try this and you will be ready for a later issue.

I hope you are not looking for a fast path to fix production issue without a solid understanding on the fundamental concepts. Knowing the underlying mechanism are vital for troubleshooting. Simulating an issue in lab does not guarantee it will apply in your production environment unless your lab is 100% identical to prod.

This is not a fast path. Its more about cutting the time it might take someone to learn skills. This very forum, from everyones help has helped me do things that would have taken so much longer to figure out cut down. I have to read up on things i dont understand so the fundamentals needed will never be skipped. But when you are shown how to troubleshoot then you learn that much more.
But there can be more issues with storage, performance. Things like HA, priority can break more because they are dependant on other issues.
BTW does anyone teach how to break things in the physical server world?
