Have you tried the setserial command?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI Have SUSE's LINUX 6.1 installed on my Intel Computer. I'm having problems in establishing a communication port with my US Robitcs 57k PCI internal Voice/fax Modem. The kernal recognizes it As as PCI communication device with an interrupt Request (IRQ)=9. The SUSE LINUX support help states that I have to have a Mod input definition to through the kernal to the serial I/O comm port. I've tried many different ways to initiate it without any success. This modem is not a Winmodem(not supported by LINUX). According the various LINUX links this PCI Modem is supported by Kernals > 2.0. Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

I have a similar modem (USR/3COM 3CP3298-DEL) that I
bought without thinking bundled with my DELL PC.
It's a 56k, V.90 internal PCI hardware modem (NOT a WINMODEM!!).
Anyway, I got it to work under Red Hat linux 6.0

You have to issue the setserial command with some non-
intuitive options.
Good luck...
