Fatal Error : NO Screens Found while starting X Windows on Linux 8

Hi,

i new to linux and just installed Redhat Linux on my box. i have selected the Graphical login mode. when i start my box it will try to start to start login in GUI but fails, giving out an error:
"Fatal Error : No Screens Found"

I am Using S3 Trio 64V2 Display card and my monitor is LG Studio Works 450 N.


can u help me solve this problem/

I'm wondering if this is an X configuration problem. Can you post /etc/X11/XF86Config?

Sounds to me like your X configuration is hosed. I'd suggest running the X config tool (Xconfigurator on 7.x or redhat-config-xfree86 on 8.0 or later) from a console login. I don't know if your monitor is one in the pick list, but if it isn't you can get the horizontal and vertical rates from the monitor docs and use those for the monitor specifications.

run xf86config script from shell ! it will guide u through series of question and will generate new XF86Config file in /etc/X11 directory !

Or edit that file ( XF86Config ) manually with your favorite editor by changing line that states Section "Screen".

Ii is most probable that ur Video card does not work(driver).I met the same problem on my Radeon9100.
