hey, what else does xfs need to be installed because i get following..
warning: XFree86-xfs-4.3.0-2.i386.r
error: Failed dependencies:

as i said it cant be /etc/init.d/rc.d/ as their is no file or folder called rc.d , their is a file called xfs in /etc/init.d/ which if you do /etc/init.d/xfs it shows a list of commands that can be put with it such as {start|stop|status|restart

another solution is to change font server namely xfs with freetype2:

Since it can partially ( maybe ) fix teh glyph problem u have !

try running xfs server and see if it helps,
in red hat command may be
services xfs start
or
/etc/init.d/rc.d/xfs start
NOTE: u need to install xfs server from packages, XFS is a font server !
