How to add 2nd drive connected via USB

Linux newbie with Red Hat 9 installed.  I would like to add a 2nd (external) drive connected by USB.

I created the block device disk driver diskette and ran the install again with the driver diskette.

What is the next step?

Since the drive is external, I would like to have the drive marked removable.
