Browse All TopicsHi all,
I have a Linux box running mandrake 9.2 and the vncserver running. I know it's running because if I try to start it, it says it's already running.
Now, I have a Win2000 pc and I want to use vnc to get to the linux box. This ONLY works if I go to the linux box and run "Virtual Network Connection" manually, instruct it to act as a server. Then all works well, but I have to initially login on Linux and start the GUI server myself.
What I want to do is be able to use VNC to login whenever I want. To set it up, I did the following:
- Used mandrake install utility / installed the vncserver service
- Set it to run at startup
- Used vncpasswd / set a password up
- Edited the /etc/sysconfig/vncservers file
The line in there looks like this:
VNCSERVERS="1:lane"
From my PC, I have tried:
vncviewer 192.168.0.15:5800
vncviewer 192.168.0.15:5801
vncviewer 192.168.0.15:5802
vncviewer 192.168.0.15
Nothing is working... does anyone know why? What am I missing?
Not sure if this will work, but I would like to get my own session while my kids are logged in. If they're playin around on it, I want to login and play around too or ultimately, both options... use vncviewer to see their session and/or login and get my own session.
Thanks,
lR
