VSFTPD Nightmare, been trying to fix this for days, I cant restrict local users, and Ive tried everything I have read on the net.

Ok so for about 4 days I have been trying to setup this VSFTP, its meant to be easy, but im having great difficulty, its soo frustrating when you read something, do what it says and nothing happens still.

I have got FTP access runnin, but I want to rescrict local users to their own home directory, and I have done deny access lists and and pretty much everything, and I can still login via root in ftp.

another thing, ftp access doesnt seem to run through normal ftp, I have to use sftp (dreamweaver ftp testing).

I also just noticed this, users are not being restricted to their home directorys, I got a user "testing" and have the home directory of /var/www/html/testing, but I put / as the host directory it gave me root, it should of been /var/www/html/testing, very strange.

I basically just want to reenact being a web host and people host their sites with me and I give them a user and password and they rescrict to their home directorys. im doing this for learning purposes and to see if I can achieve it.

Please help me guys.
