Good morning:
I am setting up an Internet Cafe for our youth center. I need to be able to filter content and keep costs down so I have chosen to use openSUSE 10.3 with Squid and Dan's Guardian. After setting up the OS I installed Squid from YAST. I have 2 NICs so that the proxy is the gateway to the Internet while the clients are on their own network. Configured one NIC for DHCP and one for static. The external is DHCP the internal is static. A client computer can log on and gets an IP from the SUSE 10.3. I configured Squid(config.conf) with an acl to allow clients on the network to have access and the corresponding http allow clients setting. The problem is that I cant's tell if Squid is running or how to start Squid. I need it to start on boot. Your help and advice would be appreciated.
