Finding Obsolete Mainframe Jobs

Hello Gurus,

Could you please let me know if there is any tool available to find out obsolete mainframe jobs. There are many such jobs lying around and we need to quickly find it.

If yes, is it available in Mainframe or do we need to separately buy and install?

Do you have a job scheduling package?  If so, it should be able to tell you what jobs you run and what jobs you do not run.

If not, then SMF records are your friends.  They can tell you what files (or PDS members) have been accessed.  However, since some jobs may only run 1 a year, semi-annually, quarterly, monthly, or weekly you will need need process the SMF records from various times during the year.  Even with a job scheduling package, you may want to use SMF just to verify.
