The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Current Path

Asked by dllfile in MS DOS

Tags: current, path, dos

Hi, I am writing a batch file in XP, but here is what im looking for.

I am writing a batch file to run a program, I have some things I want to know how to do,

How to:
Get the current directory the batch file is being run in and put into a variable such as
set cudir=the directory the batch file is in

Not sure how to do it?

Also,

How to:
Is it possible use a batch file to read a shortcut and return the Target box info to a variable? If so, how?

Last but not least:

How to: (easiest way)
To use batch/dos to find in the registry where a path is defined that is the location to an exe.

Such as, I have a program installed, lets say it is myprogram.exe, I want to know if I can find in the registry with a batch file, what the info is that tells it what path belongs to that exe. I know I can search the HDD using batch and find the path, but I figure registry would be much quicker. Since most programs contain some place that points to the main exe. and return the path to a variable. in the batch file.

If I am not making sense on something, please let me know so I can try to better explain it, atm, im not sure how to explain what I mean, hopefully you can understand me.
