%date% in scheduled job

I have scheduled a batch job and want the screen output to a text file.
Here is the scheduled job: c:\a.bat > %date%.log
However the log files become "Thu". It was because the date format in the machine is : Thu 07/20/2006.
How can I make the log generated as "07-20-2006.log" ? Thanks.

Well without embedding it in another batch file where you can do some more data processing you could use

c:\a.bat > "%DATE:/=-%"

which turns the / into -

IMHO you could only do it as a batch file:

set date1="%DATE:/=-%"
set date2=%date1:~-8%
call a.bat > %date2.log%

That should be:

set date1=%DATE:/=-%
set date2=%date1:~-10%
call a.bat > %date2%.log

That code can also be collapsed into a 1-liner:

  @echo set d1=%date:/=-%>t_.bat& echo call a.bat ^> ^%d1:~-10^%>>t_.bat& @call t_.bat

Perhaps not the most useful code mind you...
