Question

Best way to compile batch script to .exe and not exposing the code in a temp folder

Asked by: compuiter

I have tested Quick Batch File Compiler but it leaves the sources on temp folder or somewhere in the hard drive, is there another way that the script run on the fly in memory instead of temp file or temp file but unreadable file or a way to fully block that working folder?

Here's a couple to check out.

I think this is the one you're using, but just in case it isn't.

Also, if you;re doing this for some sort of installer, then perhaps Nullsoft Installer is an alternative?

billprew, looks like the first 3 leave the source code exposed and easyly can be extracted from temp folder.

http://www.battoexe.com/ = http://www.abyssmedia.com/quickbfc/index.shtml

And NSIS is not fully silent since the first run or click, probable it can be done but dont know how it really works, and dont know if it leaves a temp folder with source code.

Probably with Delphi or C# console programming, but i dont know if i can paste a batch script code, anyone knows if this could work or there is a better way?

Here are a couple more you may have already looked at (BAT2EXE, TurboBat).  They are somewhat old so I didn't include them this first time since they may not support newer syntax additions.

Other than that I'm not sure of any other DOS Batch file compiling techniques.

If you were willing to use owerShell as the script language I *think* PrimalScript has a packaging tool for those, but I don't know if it satisfies your need or not.  Take at look at their info if interested.

http://www.primaltools.com/products/info.asp?p=PrimalScript

Beyond that I think you would need to write using a true compiled language like VB or C and deploy a true EXE file that way.  But it would be a different syntax to adapt to, etc.

Depends on what you mean with "better way". You can try AutoIt (http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/downloads.php), which is a free scripting language. The scripts can either be interpreted by the program (just like a VB script), or they can be compiled into an exe file.
It's rather easy to learn, has a nice help with lots of examples, and even an editor with syntax highlighting.
Oh, and it's free ...

billprew i couldnt know if PrimalScript could do that i found it a little confusing probably because i dont know how to use it or its a little more advanced or i simply didnt understand it, maybe there is a simpler way like the other compilers but all of them can leave the source code behind or can be extracted easyly, i was thinking that probably with C# or Delphi could take the exacth batch script code paste it and compile it no extra programing or maybe a programing template then i just add my code and compile something kind of simpler that i could do.

oBdA i know autoit its very good but i dont know a lot of the commands and have my scripts on batch script, im looking something more like compile the scripts that i already have. But thanks any way.

Thanks

Did you take a look at ExeScript, I haven't used it but it did make the claim below and seems to work with normal BAT file commands.

"Contents of generated executables are hidden. The operations performed by converted batch files, VBScript and Jscript can remain secret."

Do you know if this can be done with C# or Delphi, like i explained?

by: billprewPosted on 2009-11-09 at 07:43:16ID: 25776863

If you are asking if you wrote your code in something else like C# instead of windows batch commands then I would say yes, most languages that compile to executables will not include the source code.  I can't speak to Delphi though, haven't used that environment.

However if you are asking if something like C# could take your existing BAT file and somehow hide the commands in it to execute later I don't think so.
