can any body tell me how to change the default behaviour of the system volume under windows xp.
when i double click on the c: in my computer it keeps opening seach instead of opening the drive seleted .
all help is greatly appriceated .

Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate and then click the Default value under the following keys in the registry if this problem occurs with folders:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Director
If this problem occurs with drives:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Director
Click Modify on the Edit menu.
Type none in the Value data box, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.

I think what you are seeing is knows the the Search Companion (the menus on the left hand side will be like the search in Windows and the little dog on the bottom). You should be able to return to the default view by clicking on the "X" on the top of the search companion. This will show you the System Tasks view that you are looking for.
Also, you might have to set that as the new default view by clicking on "Tools>Folder Options" then click on the "View" tab and clicking on the "Apply to all Folders" button.
