The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition -> External Harddisk Issue

Asked by Raisor in Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Server, Windows 2003 Server

Hi,

I've spent the past two weeks backing up all of my data from the past 12 years ... using "My Book" in a terrabyte edition and a "HDDrive2go" in a half terrabyte edition ... everything went well ... I've backed up data from XP systems, from  2000 servers, from 2003 servers ... and even my latest projects built on Windows Vista and Longhorn Beta 3 are pretty well backed up ...

... I've placed new boxes and installed a new network (using different locations) and everything is just perfect ... except ... none of my 2003 servers is willing to accept neither "My Book" nor "HDDrive2go" ... all drivers are perfectly installed ... both drives are shown in the Harddisk Management Console (just without drive names ... and seeming to have only free space) ... when I connected "My Book" to my notebook (Vista Ultimate) lately I could access all data ...

I've tried everything to get this streight ... I'm currently copying the most important data from "My Book" through the notebook, through a repeater (wireless) through a router (wireless) ... back to the repeater (wireless) into a hub ... and from there to the targeted server ... 30 megabytes just took half an hour ... normally, 30 gigabytes take pretty much less ...

... what am I missing?
... did I forget any policy settings to set for the external drives to been shown in the windows explorer?
... if possible, please help!

Best regards,
Raisor
