Paging file in a database sever

Hi,

I have a database server which has 4 GB of ram with windows 2003 Os.As for a application when run

Get this error.

O/S-Error: (OS 1455) The paging file is too small for this operation to complete.
SQL> STARTUP NOMOUNT PFILE='D:\oracle\ora92\database\INITHASENGUK.ORA';
ORA-27102: out of memory
OSD-00026: Message 26 not found;  product=RDBMS; facility=SOSD


How much of paging size can i increase.

When i iincrease the size i get an error.

The size of page size should be 1.5xRAM.But it should not be more tha 4096 or 4GB.

you mean 1.5 * 4 GB is 6000?

If i have ram size of 8 GB even then i cannot increase more than 4095
No.U can't.

The paging file should be 1.5 x the amount of Physical RAM that you have, but it should no  be more than 4Gb. - So in your case it should be 4Gb ie ( about 4096 Mb.)

To change this right click on My Computer, select Properties and then Advanced. Select SETTINGS under "Performance", and under Advanced select CHANGE. set bot the Max and Min Values to 4096, and click SET
