Incoming faxes not showing up in fax console

We're on Windows XP SP2, and have just set up the Fax Service. We've just received a fax, and using Windows Explorer I can see the 4 .tif files in the c:\Faxes\incoming folder. But using the fax console, when I click on the 'incoming' folder, it is empty.

Is there some association I have to set in order for the 'incoming' folder in my fax console to show my the fax?

Usually those items are stored in:

Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Inbox
Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\SentItems

- Start the Fax Configuration Wizard from within the Fax Console window.
- Click Start>Programs>Accessories>Communications>Fax
- Click Fax Console (Fax Console opens).
- In Fax Console, click Configure Fax under the Tools menu (the Fax Configuration Wizard starts).

Here you can setup the faxfolder.

Thanks, but I had originally done this, and specified c:\Faxes\incoming. The .tif files were placed there when the incoming fax arrived, but the fax console just doesn't show them. That's the problem.

Hm...but if you copy those tifs to the mentioned folder, will they show up then in the console?

no, I tried copying them to that folder and they still do not appear in the fax console.

Did you create the faxfolder before running the faxfolder wizard or after?
Try to create the folder the other way then the way you tried now.

Maybe try to reinstall the faxservice from Add/Remove Programs.

Yes, I tried deleting and resinstalling the fax software as well. very strange. Another oddity - when a 4 page fax was received, the fax software created 4 tif files, each of which was a copy of the 1st page received. I think the Fax Service on XP SP2 is just broken :)

Well...what those tifs sometimes do is not show the following pages of the fax.
Which program are you using for viewing the tif files?

But if you are certain these are 4 1-page faxes, then I think something is wrong with the faxservice itself.
