Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy Folder Redirection

Asked by gsmalleus in Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows XP Operating System, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

Tags: folder, redirection, group, policy, active

A small division in our company recently branched off to form their own company.  I removed their computers from the domain and transferred all their profiles, settings and files over to their local computers and made them into a small workgroup.  I basically followed the instructions using the solution at http://www.experts-exchange.com/Networking/Windows_Networking/Q_21873885.html.  It worked fairly well except for the fact that I had applied folder redirection to the My Documents folder and Desktops.  After removal from the domain I had transfered the items in those redirected folders into the local machines.   After logging in I was able to redirect the My Documents folder to the local profile via right clicking on the My Doc's folder and telling it to use the local one.  But  when logging in, it asks me for a username and password so it can access the old redirected Desktop.  I don't know if the rest of the old group policy is still being enforced, we didn't have all that many items in the GPO.  It seems the desktop redirection is the one hang up I have.  Any help would be greatly appreciatedStart Free Trial
