Getting windows to allow rename but not delete for files and folders
I am attempting to rename a folder on an smb network from Windows XP Pro. The folder lives on a MS 2003 server. I have the folder shared for read and change. The permissions have an explicit deny delete. I want my group to be able to rename folders and files but not to delete. Is this possible to do with ACLS?
Right Click on File. Go to Security. Click Advanced. click on the permissions tab at the top. choose the user account you would like to set the attributes for. Double click on the user account or group. Choose Deny on the delete permission. You may have to change the propogation of permissions from the parent directory for setting to take effect.
Right Click the folder name go to sharing and security Select Security Tab and select the user and go to advanced settings. In Advaced Settings in Permission tab double click on the user name Then you will get one menu , in this menu you can give all permissions one by one
Hope this will help you to solve your problem
