NTLDR Missing - Windows XP

My laptop is running on Windows XP Pro. Today I started up my laptop and I received an error "NTLDR is Missing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". Each time I restart the laptop, I keep getting this same error and it doesn't go any further from this.

How can I rectify this problem. What do I need to do?

If you have a floppy Drive... check if there is a floppy in there..

2. Boot off the CD.. to go Repair Console.. and try Bootfix

You'll need to replace the file from your XP CD.

Boot the PC with the Windows CD in the drive. Press R to go into the Recovery Console.
Type FIXBOOT at the prompt
Press Enter.
Copy the Ntldr and Ntdetect.com files from the I386 folder on the Windows XP CD-ROM to the root folder of your boot drive. The boot drive is typically drive C.
It could also be a problem with reading the boot.ini

In the recovery console...

bootcfg /rebuild

Then follow the prompts, and restart the machine.

ben1211, any feedback?
ben1211:

I'm curious about your point split. My response gave you *exactly* the same information that was contained in the assist you gave to remeshk, and I gave you the information first. A split certainly seems reasonable, but the way you did it doesn't quite seem fair.

Glad the system is working for you now.
