SBS Server 2003 and windows server 2003
Pls clarify.
Can i have a SBS Server 2003 providing exchange etc., on one server and another server running windows server 2003 with additional applications running on the same network. So the SBS 2003 will provide exchange, CRM and storage while the server with windows server 2003 installed on it will host a custom application. So two separate OS on different machines but on the same network.
Thanks.

Yes, the two can co-exist on the same network.  I had two separate domains on the same subnet and they played just fine.  The only questions would be do you have the proper client access licenses for the number of users, and do you need to setup trust relationships between the two or are they going to be completely segregated?
I guess you can as long as you just make it a member server (hee hee). SBS wants to control the entire domain and if you try and make the 2003 server a dc you are going to hit mega problems.

jimbecher - that is incorrect.  A 2K3 server can exist as an additional domain controller in an SBS domain without issue.

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server. Important upgrades included integrating Internet Information Services (IIS), improvements to Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP), and the migration to Automated System Recovery (ASR).
