Toshiba Satellite a215-s7444

I recently purchased a toshiba satellite A215-s7444 with windows vista. Which I did not want vso i deltete the patrtiton recreated and installed windows xp  pro. Here my problem I can not find any xp drivers for this laptop only windows vista any suggestions.

You might out of luck for this one since there is no XP drivers supported. Get Lavalys in the link below and run it, then collect hardware ID list, post here so we could look for drivers.

Use your recovery DVD's and reinstall Vista, or use the recovery partition if there is one.

Run SIW under vista and note the hardware you have, then look for XP drivers for that hardware. Burn the downloaded drivers to CD and then install XP again.

Toshiba offers Vista downgrade rights if the laptop is  pre-installed with Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows Vista Business.

If you have Vista Basic then you will have to search out the components as the previous posts have mentioned.

Ulmanneric, I'm sorry to say, you have run into the VI$TA roadblock.
Everest has identified the Chipset and Toshiba calls it the M690V(RS690M) on the motherboard which is the driver needed to allow the Integrated graphics to be identified properly by the graphics driver install.
There are no AMD 690 chipset drivers for XP on the AMD site, and that isn't an oversite.(PUNKY, the link you posted was for the AMD-751, AMD-761, or AMD-762 chipsets)
 Its a relatively easy way for Microsoft to ensure the use of Vista over XP.
This has been widespread since Vista has been introduced, as M$ needs to make sure this OS is sold to the masses. They need people using it,(and having it fail) so they can iron out the imperfections. They have used the hammer on OEM's having them sell their products with VI$TA,but provide no XP support.

the only thing i can not get to work is the modem and i have somethign there say sm buss controller other than that everythign is working any suggestions for those two

The smbus controller is used for communication with low-bandwidth devices like the modem and the laptop's rechargeable battery subsystem. Other devices might include temperature sensors and lid switches.
This is directly due to the lack of chipset drivers.

If you are unable to make it work with that, then consider that you are out of luck with XP, or you will have to live with Vista. What is wrong with Vista anyway? I love Vista :o)

everything works fine now but one problem usb devices do not. it finds them byt can never install a driver even somethign as simple as a mouse any thought

In device manager, under usb entries, what do you see there? any yellow mark?

Usb control is also part of the 690v chipset. I think you are in an up hill battle without the chipset driver.
