Norton internet security 2008 crushed pc

Recently i bought norton internet security 2008 and dowloaded into my pc which 2.6 gh xp pro sp2- the norton internet security 2008 my pc became verly slow even without scanning. further more the internet explorer 6 also stopped working and was blinking for long time without responding. i had to power off the pc and restart pc again. i finally unstalled norton and would like advise which antivirus suitable for my pc which will not slow or crush pc

Kaspersky.com I use it and it is great, was a pure norton guy till I tried this one.

Norton security products have gone WAY downhill over the last few years.
Mcafee is following not too far behind.

I prefer Computer Associates security products. They are lightweight and do an excellent job, often picking up things that Norton and others miss.

My next choice would be Grisoft's AVG

they even have a free version for home users.

Ebrahim,

Ohter great options are:

AVG (http://www.grisoft.com)
BitDefender (http://www.bitdefender.com/)
McAfee (http://www.mcafee.com/) - not my favorite program but good and popular
ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonealarm.com/) - now has an Internet security suite

Kaspersky, which was recommended above, is also highly recommended and the favorite of many experts.  It is relatively expensive though but you do get value for the premium price.

It is expnsive (about 70.00 for the suite) but it is good for 3 computers and the publish AV updates more often than any other company out there.

Plus it was developed by ex-KGB hackers...

I personally quite like Syamntec's corporate products, but for home I suggest NOD32:

I have found CA to be a bit difficult to uninstall, and ZoneAlarm's AV scanning facilities are very poor and out-dated.

"Symantec's" foremost corporate product (in this field): (that can be used on a home PC as well)

Good luck, what AV did you decide to go with?

Like jasfout said Symantec home products used to be great, up till about 3 years ago or so... but the corporate products are great as and235100 stated...

Any of the other AV solutions posted in this topic will work, my pref is Kaspersky but I have also used AVG and BitDefender.
